The Benefits of Matcha

Matcha provides 34mg of caffeine and longer-lasting energy than coffee. Contrary to coffee, you don’t get a caffeine crash after a few hours. Additionally, matcha has been proven to have beneficial effects on brain functions [1]. So, whether it is to start my day or to stay focus when studying or working, I found my matcha smoothie to be quite effective. Also, matcha powder can be super expensive! I can still remember those days when I was paying $23 at the grocery for a 40g tin. Fortunately, I found good quality matcha powder for MUCH, MUCH CHEAPER! You can get a 250g tin for only $28.99 on Amazon. There used to be a time when I tried not drinking too much matcha because of the price; these days are gone!

The Avocado

Avocado gives the smoothie a … smoother texture :). However, make sure not to use too much avocado as it has a strong taste. The pineapple, on the other hand, naturally sweetens your smoothie so that no additional sugar is needed.

The Pineapples

I like to buy my pineapples fresh when in sale at the grocery (at the price of $2-3) and freeze them in zipper lock bags. I wait for them to be ripe before freezing so that they are as sweet as possible. Not only is it cheaper, I also find them sweeter than already frozen pineapples bought at the grocery.

Silk Original Soy Beverage

The Milk

I always make my matcha smoothie using my favorite soy milk, the Silk Original Soy Beverage. I personally find that any type of tea (including matcha) taste better with soy milk than regular milk (however, I find that coffee tastes weird with soy milk).
